Rio Nuevo Becomes a Certified B Corporation: Joining a Global Movement for Good

We're excited to announce that Rio Nuevo has officially become a Certified B Corporation, joining a global movement of businesses committed to using their power for good.

What is a B Corporation and Why Does It Matter?

B Corps are companies that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. This means that Rio Nuevo is now part of a community of businesses that are working towards transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet.

The B Corp movement is about more than just individual businesses; it's about creating a new economic system that is inclusive, equitable, and regenerative.

Together, we're shifting the focus from profit at all costs to a balance between profit and purpose, and from individualism to interdependence. We're building a movement of people who are using business as a force for good.

Changing the Chocolate Industry for Good

At Rio Nuevo, we're not just a chocolate company. We're a movement that's transforming the industry and making a positive impact on the planet. Our dedication to transparency, collaboration, respect, and social justice fuels our mission to create a better future for the chocolate industry.

We believe that chocolate should be a force for good in the world, and that's why we work directly with cacao farming communities in Ecuador to pay them 65% above Fairtrade prices for their cacao.

By delivering the finest quality chocolate available, we're not just supporting sustainable agriculture, but also lifting

cacao growers and their communities out of poverty. As an independent chocolate company, our commitment to ethical sourcing and empowering cacao growers in Ecuador's most fragile ecosystems, the Amazon Rainforest and Cloud Forest, reflects our passion for changing the chocolate industry.

Rio Nuevo's Journey to Becoming a Certified B Corporation

Becoming a Certified B Corporation was not an easy process, but it was an important one for Rio Nuevo. To become certified, we underwent a rigorous assessment that evaluated our impact on our workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment. We also had to make changes to our governance structure to ensure that we were meeting the highest standards of transparency and accountability.

We're proud to say that our hard work paid off: we scored 111.6 on the B Impact Assessment, which is well above the average score of 80.9 for all B Corps. This score is a testament to our commitment to creating positive impact, and to using our business as a force for good.

What Being a B Corp Means for Rio Nuevo's Customers and Stakeholders

As a Certified B Corporation, Rio Nuevo is committed to creating positive social and environmental impact, and to being transparent and accountable in everything we do.

This means that our customers and stakeholders can trust that we are committed to doing the right thing, even if it's not always the easy thing.

It means that when you choose Rio Nuevo chocolate, you're not just indulging in a delicious treat. You're supporting a movement that's transforming the chocolate industry and creating a more sustainable, just, and equitable future. You can trust that our chocolate is ethically sourced, made with the highest quality ingredients, and produced with a deep respect for the people and ecosystems involved in its production.

We're excited to be part of a movement that is transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet, and we invite you to join us as we work towards a world where all businesses balance profit and purpose, and where people and the planet are at the heart of every decision. Together, we can transform the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet!
